Read this interview with Mark Slessenger below.
Mark: Shaun welcome to The Message Trust! Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
Shaun: I am a 30 year old male, sold out for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am married and and currently serve as the youth facilitator alongside my wife at Harvestime Christian Fellowship. I love football and am an avid Man United supporter. I also host a radio show at Ccfm on Monday evenings between 21h00 and 00h00.
Mark: The four values of The Message Trust are passion, church, innovation & community. Tell us what you passionate about?
Shaun: I am passionate about transforming youth, as I fell victim to the pressures faced whilst growing up. I was a drug addict for 12 years until God miraculously saved me at age 24. As I have personally witnesses our communities in Cape Town ruled by this plague and I am convinced that God has empowered me with a testimony to make a difference in this area of concern.
Mark: Tell us a bit about your church?
Shaun: I fellowship at Harvestime Christian Fellowship in Northpine. The church prides itself in being a family, we're open to all races and our core value is building community. The church is 11 years old.
Mark: You mentioned you are from Northpine what does community mean to you?
Shaun: I live in Kuilsriver, but I grew up in Northpine, so I am more committed to providing change in Northpine. It saddens me to see that many of my friends are still caught up in drugs and many families I know are affected.
Mark: The Message loves developing new innovative ways to reach youth – what was it that specifically attracted you to join The Message team?
Shaun: The Message attracted me with their concept of being relevant. The culture of bringing Jesus to the world the way, in my mind, God ordained it to be brought. The Message is intercultural and displays a beautiful image of brotherhood. Biblically, disciples of Christ was portrayed in this way, and I desired to be a part of this NEW THING.
Mark: If you could say one thing to the youth of South Africa what would you say?
Shaun: My message to the youth would be, "Find your identity in the Creator whose will for your life is perfect."
Mark: Thanks Shaun - it's great to have you on on team and we look forward to all that God will do in and through you and KineticIV in the future.
